THE POWER OF GOD'S WORD.

Text: Psalms 107:17-20
Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

God's people were referred to here as fools. Were they not God's chosen people? Yes, they were. They were the people God laboured so much to set free from the captivity of Egypt. They were the set of people who experienced the miracles of the parting of red sea, the destruction of Egyptian army in the sea, provisions of manna in the wilderness, healing of the bitter water of Marah,, victories over nations and all sort of miracles. Whatever they wanted God was supplying them.
Why did the bible then called them fools? Verse 17 of psalm 107 shows us the reasons why they were called fools.

1. Transgression:

To transgress means to go beyond the boundaries. To break the law of God. The people of God quickly forgot the miracles of divine provisions and started murmuring against their leaders. God regarded their complaints as an act of foolishness. God's command to believers in their times of need is to ask (Matthew 7:7), and not to murmur and complain against him. Hope you are not guilty of this.

2. Iniquity:

Iniquity is the act of doing something in a different way from God's instructions. It is not an outright disobedience, but obeying in a way different from what God ordered. God told King Saul to go and destroy every living creature in Amalek. Saul obeyed by going to the battlefield, but committed iniquity by sparing the King of Amalek and the fat animals (1 Samuel 15). Saul's action was regarded as an act of foolishness. Do you give detail attention to divine instructions and carry them out exactly as instructed? For their acts of foolishness, satan had opportunity to afflict them with sickness.
The bible says they were close to the gate of death. What did they do in their trouble? They cried to God. When they cried to God for help, God actually sent help to them. How? Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions -Psalms 107:19-20. God didn't come down to start rubbing medicine on their sick bodies. He simply sent His word. He sent His word and healed them through His words. He delivered them from their destruction using the instrumentality of His word. I don't know the exact thing you are going through. I don't know the areas of your life where you are desperately in need of divine intervention.
The solution is in God's word. Get the word. Eat the word. Digest the word. Live by the word. Grow in the word. Problems will start to bow out of your life. Miracles will become your daily experience. The power of God is made available to humanity through the word of God. God is the Word. Jesus is the Word. All things were made by the Word. The Word has ability to create and recreate. Go for the Word. A man of the Word is a man of unceasing manifold miracles ( read John 1)

My personal faith confession:

I am a product of God's word. I am created by the word, blessed by the word and I am going to live by the word. The word of God is bringing solution to my situations. I am word-addict.

My prayer for you:

As you lay hold on the Word of God and begin to apply them in every area of your life, I pray God will produce in you the miracles you desperately need in Jesus name Amen.
